Weekly Update
October 14, 2024
Thank You: Thank you to all our families for your hard work and generous donations for Laps for Lincoln. It was wonderful to see everyone walking and celebrating our success. Your donations will help provide many educational opportunities for your children. Please mark your calendars and attend our PTO meetings each month to be a part of how these funds will be spent.
Conferences: Thank you so much for your time this past week to make student included conferences a success. I enjoyed meeting with everyone and look forward to the conferences in the week ahead.
Word Work: Our class will be learning about the r-controlled syllable pattern this week. Words that follow this pattern include artist, teacher, direct, actor, and curly. Spelling City (Units 8 -11) are ready for students to access the practice list for the week.
Math: Our second graders will be completing our Unit 1 assessment and starting Math Unit 2. We will be adding and subtracting within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and the relationship between addition and subtraction. The students will use this knowledge to solve story problems.
Cold Weather: Sadly our days are becoming cooler. Please remember your child is outside up to 4 times a day with gym and 3 recesses. If the outdoor temperature is below 60, they must have long sleeves. Please send them in layers so that they can stay warm.
Halloween Party: Thank you to all who have volunteered to help and/or send in supplies for our party. The students are looking forward to this celebration from 12:45 - 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 31st. Students may wear their costumes all day and we will have an all school costume parade outside on the blacktop at 3:15. If it is raining, the outside parade will be canceled.
