WORD WORK: Our class will continue learning about multisyllabic words this week with closed, open, VCe, r-controlled, vowel team, and consonant-le syllable types.  Some examples of these words are office, stumble, apartment, and downtown.


FUN IN THE CLASSROOM: Thank you to Alton, Jesse, and Sara Willis for an exciting addition to Alton's star of the week. The timing was perfect because they filmed on Wednesday when I had a substitute teacher making for a wonderful surprise upon my return. Click here to see the great video they made.


UPTON PLANETARIUM:  Our second graders are excited to visit the planetarium this Thursday, February 27th.


MARCH IS READING MONTH:  Reading Month is almost here!  Students will have fun reading books and voting on their favorite titles at school.  This is a great time to energize your nightly reading at home.  Book order information will be sent to you soon. You will also be getting exciting news from our visiting author and an opportunity to purchase his books.  Please watch for the flier and return as soon as possible.

 

SARETT NATURE CENTER FIELD TRIP: Our second graders will be traveling to Sarett on Thursday, March 6th from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. to learn about maple sugaring. Parents are welcome to attend at a cost of $4.00 per person. Please plan on meeting your second grader at Sarett. It will be important to dress for the weather with boots since much of the time will be spent outdoors.
