Weekly Update
Week of February 3, 2025
WORD WORK: Our class will learn the /ô/ syllable pattern that makes the sound with the letters au and aw like in taught, crawling, applause, and sprawled.
COZY DAY: Our cozy day has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 4th. This change allows us to support the 1st graders as they will be presenting their Pajama Party performance.
THANK YOU MR. DOWNEY: Mr. Downey came in for Dalton's star of the week sharing to help us learn about firefighters and fire safety. The students loved asking questions. We were also fortunate to hear the importance of having a family escape plan, not hiding in the event of a fire, changing smoke detector batteries (even the hard wired kind) and closing bedroom doors before sleeping (close before you doze). It was awesome! He also shared this great document if you would like more information. Thank you Mr. Downey!!
ICE SKATING: Thank you to everyone who was able to join us on Tuesday for ice skating. The children had a great time! Thank you Jenny DeLapa for the photo.
VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY: It is really hard to believe that our last classroom party is just around the corner. Our Valentine’s Day party will be held on Friday, February 14th, from 12:45-1:45.
SARETT FIELD TRIP: Our second graders will be traveling to Sarett Nature Center on March 6th in the morning from 9:45-10:30. We will be learning about maple sugaring and need to dress for the weather. Parents are welcome to join us at Sarett but there is an admission fee. More information will be coming soon. Please email me if you are planning to attend as there is specific information you need to know.
